Studies on Flower Bud Differentiation and Forcing of Pulsatilla Koreana

Abstract
This experiment was carried out in order to investigate the process of flower bud differentiation and the influence of cold treatment on forcing of Pulsatilla koreana.
Under natural condition, the flower bud differentiation was initiated at late June and completed at mid October. The number of leaves at that time was 7 to 8, 11 to 12, respectively.
In order to increase flowering rate, natural cold treatment was required to December 21 and artificial cold treatment (at 3 to 5¡É) was required for 9 weeks at least.
Days to first flower became shorter as the cold treatment period became longer.
In the artificial cold treatment the flower stem length became longer as the cold treatment period became longer, but shorter than in the natural condition.
